About the Author

This is just a quick note to explain my blog a bit further.

I have always loved going to the theatre and I’ve always wanted to write – the only trouble is I never knew what to write about. This blog started off as a kind of diary, just for me, as a reminder of all the shows I’ve seen and all the people I’ve met. After a lot of indecision and uncertainty, I decided to give the whole blog thing a go and, on the 9th of March 2013, Theatre Therapy was born!

For me, the theatre has always been my “happy place.” I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for over five years now, and the theatre is the only place where I feel at home. No matter how low I feel, I go to see a show and it’s like the slate has been wiped clean.

I try to go to the theatre as often as I can, circumstances permitting, so this blog will be updated pretty regularly. I have a tendency to fan-girl and I do get starstruck quite a lot so please forgive me!

I hope you like what you read and, if you do, please feel free to pass it on.

Thanks,

Alison x

  1. I wish I’d been ‘into’ theatre when I was your age. I’ve missed so much that, with hindsight, I wish I’d seen, would’ve loved to have seen, but too late for regrets, so trying to make up for it now. Make the most of whatever chances come your way. You’ll be glad you did. Luckily I have a wife and daughter who love theatre so I get lots of opportunities. I wish I could write as well as you – maybe I’d have an Old Git blog! Stay as lovely as you are. xxx

  2. aw bless you, angel! I know how you feel! I love going to the theatre and I know you particularly love Rock of Ages just like I love Les Mis… and I’m very likely to know how you feel ’cause I feel exactly the same. I’ve talked and met some people of this ‘theatre world’ (plus all the theatre lovers I met as a matter of course^^ (including you ^^)) and I must say that they’ve completely changed me and helped me get better as well (just like you) but also see the world on a brighter side (:
Really hope we can meet someday 🙂 I’m sure we’ve got a lot to share 🙂
    Xxxx
